If you had told me years ago that I’d be using artificial intelligence in my 80s, I would have laughed. But here I am, a retired business graphics professional, exploring AI with the same curiosity I once had for competitive sailing. It’s been an unexpected adventure—one that has deepened my appreciation for how God equips us with tools to expand the gifts He has already given.
At first, I was skeptical. Could AI technology align with the wisdom God provides? Would it be a distraction from faith or a tool to strengthen it? As I dug deeper, I realized that AI isn’t here to replace divine wisdom—it’s simply a tool that helps refine, organize, and expand the insights God already gives us.
I see AI, like ChatGPT, as a digital assistant—one that helps refine and expand the wisdom God provides. But it’s crucial to remember: AI doesn’t replace God’s wisdom; it enhances how we apply it. Think of it like this:
It reminds me ofProverbs 2:6 (NLT):“For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” AI may generate ideas, but true wisdom always comes from God.
Back when I was designing print media and branding, I’d often receive projects with minimal direction—just a handful of text and a vague idea. I’d pause, take a deep breath, and silently pray,Lord, you know how this should turn out. Without fail, He would guide me. A headline would come to mind. The right images would appear. Adjustments would flow naturally, and the final product always amazed my clients.
Looking back, I see that God’s wisdom wasn’t just about creativity—it was about problem-solving, clarity, and communication. Now, I find those same principles at play with AI.
Sailing taught me the importance of preparation—you don’t just head out to sea without a plan. The same applies to how we use our time and resources. AI has helped me become a better steward, streamlining research, automating repetitive tasks, and freeing up more time for what matters most: relationships, storytelling, and sharing God’s truth.
Paul reminds us inColossians 3:23 (NLT):“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.” When we use technology wisely, we can be more productive and purposeful in our calling.
Just as the printing press once made the Bible accessible to the masses, AI-powered tools are now helping translate scripture into countless languages, reaching people in remote parts of the world. I’ve personally used AI to refine my writing, brainstorm creative ideas, and craft messages of encouragement. It’s an incredible reminder that God can use any tool for His glory.
Technology may evolve, but God’s truth never changes. When we approach AI with discernment and gratitude, we can use it to expand our knowledge, enhance creativity, and ultimately glorify Him.
My life scripture,Habakkuk 2:2 (NLT), says:“Write my answer plainly on tablets, so that a runner can carry the correct message to others.” AI is simply another tool that helps us “write the vision” and share God’s wisdom in ways that resonate with others.
I never expected to embrace AI at this stage of my life, but I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn, grow, and share God’s wisdom in new ways. Faith is a lifelong journey of discovery, and I’m excited to see how technology can help us navigate it with purpose.

Habakkuk 2:2
God’s work is not to be done merely by human effort, but by divine strength, and the power of the Holy Spirit.
