Quieted by His Love: Finding Peace in the Chaos

Finding purpose, peace, and confidence through God’s presence, love, and power to save.

When God Sings, Everything Changes

If someone had told me years ago that one of the biggest keys to success—in business, life, and relationships—was understanding that God delights in me, I might have smiled politely and moved on. But the more I’ve walked with the Lord, the more I realize just how central His love, presence, and peace have been to every victory I’ve experienced.

One verse that rocked my world in the most unexpected way is Zephaniah 3:17:

“The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.” — Zephaniah 3:17 (NLT)

It’s not just a comforting verse—it’s a blueprint for thriving.

Let me tell you a bit of my story.

Presence: You Are Not Alone

I remember sitting in a conference room years ago, preparing to present a high-stakes pitch to a room full of executives. The pressure was intense, and I started to feel that all-too-familiar twist in my stomach. But in that moment, I whispered a prayer and remembered Zephaniah’s promise: “The Lord your God is with you.”

That truth brought immediate peace. Just like Joshua 1:9 says:

“This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

God wasn’t just in heaven—He was in that boardroom, beside me, strengthening me, giving me the words, and helping me show up with confidence.

That pitch? We won the client. But more than that, I walked away with a deeper trust in God’s presence in every room I step into.

Power: The God Who Rescues and Lifts

Life isn’t all smooth sailing, even for a guy who used to love racing sailboats in Hawaii. I’ve hit some rough waters—financial challenges, career detours, and even spiritual droughts. But in every one of those moments, I’ve clung to the part of the verse that says “He is mighty to save.”

It’s echoed in Isaiah 41:10:

“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”

God isn’t just a rescuer—He’s a restorer. When I felt I had nothing left, He lifted me up, gave me new ideas, fresh strength, and a reminder that success isn’t about striving—it’s about surrender.

Delight: Learning I’m Not Just Tolerated—I’m Loved

Now, here’s where things got really personal. For years, I worked hard to be “good enough.” Good enough at work, good enough as a husband and dad, good enough for God. But then I read: “He will take great delight in you.”

That’s not tolerance. That’s celebration.

Psalm 149:4 says it best:

“For the LORD delights in his people; he crowns the humble with victory.”

That truth broke a cycle in me. I stopped working for approval and started working from acceptance. I began to show up more authentically, more creatively, and with more joy in my career because I knew I was already loved.

Love: The Calm Within the Storm

Have you ever been so anxious or overwhelmed that you didn’t even know what to pray? I’ve been there. But God’s Word promises: “He will quiet you with his love.”

When I went through a particularly challenging season—dealing with a family crisis while trying to keep things running at work—it was this part of the verse that held me.

It reminded me of Philippians 4:7:

“Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

God’s love didn’t remove the challenges, but it quieted the storm inside me. And once the inside was calm, I could face anything on the outside.

Joy: A God Who Sings Over Me

Here’s the line that really gets me: “He will rejoice over you with singing.”

Imagine that. The Creator of the universe singing—over you! I don’t know about you, but that blows my mind.

I used to think success came from hustle. And yes, I’ve worked hard. But my greatest successes came when I paused, remembered who I am to God, and let His joy wash over me.

Like Isaiah 62:5 (NLT) beautifully says:

“Then God will rejoice over you as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride.”

That’s how He sees us. And that joy gives me fuel like nothing else can.

Living It Out: Success Rooted in God’s Presence and Love

So, how do you apply Zephaniah 3:17 to your daily life and career?

1. Start each day acknowledging God’s presence.
You’re never alone in the meeting, in the commute, or in the kitchen. He is with you.

2. Lean on His strength, not yours.
Especially when you feel weak or unsure. His power is perfect in our weakness.

3. Celebrate that you bring God joy.
You’re not just His servant—you’re His delight.

4. Seek His peace intentionally.
Let His love quiet your anxious thoughts. Step away. Breathe. Pray.

5. Let His song be your soundtrack.
Tune out the noise of the world and tune into the melody of His delight over you.

Final Thoughts: From Pressure to Peace

Whether you’re building a business, navigating a transition, or just trying to keep your head above water, Zephaniah 3:17 is more than a feel-good verse—it’s a daily strategy for success. It reminds us that true victory doesn’t come from pushing harder but from resting deeper in the love and presence of our God.

Let Him sing over you. You might be surprised how much changes when you finally believe you’re worth the song.
